Creating a coupon during a chat

Coupons are a great way to surprise and delight customers, or make up for a poor experience. Chat agents can generate coupons during active chats.

If you're recommending a product from Breadstack's Recommended Products engine, and you'd like to create a coupon specifically for that product, follow the steps in this article.

1.   At the top of the chat window, click the Generate Coupon icon.

2.   Choose Generate Coupon.

3.   Select a Coupon Reason from the following. The reason will only be visible to you and your colleagues in Breadstack, not to customers.

  • Product Recommendation
  • Unsatisfied Customer
  • Impress Customer
  • Wrong/Missing Item
  • Free Gift
  • Shipping Delay
  • Outbound Incentive
  • Sale/Promotion
  • Referral Coupon

4.  You'll see a Coupon Code automatically populated. Click Regenerate to refresh it.

5.   Select a Coupon Type.

  • Non-Product-Specific - The customer can use this coupon on any product on your website.
  • Product Specific - This coupon will only work on a specific product. Select this option to bring up a search bar, then search for any product (type at least three characters to see search results). You'll be able to search for products currently in stock at whichever store location is currently selected in the location dropdown.

  • Category Specific - This coupon will only work on a specific category of products. Type any one of the product categories on your website into the search bar (type at least three characters to see search results).

6.   Choose the Discount Type (Percentage or Fixed Amount ($)). Then, under Discount Amount, enter the percentage or dollar discount value of the coupon.

7.   Enter a Usage Limit (the number of times the coupon can be redeemed).

8.   Set an Expiry Date for the coupon.

9.  (Optional) Enter a Description. This will only be visible to your colleagues in Breadstack, not to customers.

10.   Click Send. The coupon will appear in the chat window, and the customer can copy the code.
Below, see the chat agent's view on the left and the customer's view on the right.
